Things I will miss

Ten things I will miss:
  1. Watching 相声 (Chinese crosstalk) in the morning before going to work. (so I bought 郭德刚 DVDs. Yay)
  2. Chatting on MSN in Chinese.
  3. Being "rich"~~
  4. Ability to cross a 12-lane road junction without any traffic lights (but I will never attempt this again.)
  5. Nice ice kacang!
  6. The lunch in the office (although laden with MSG)
  7. Playing online mahjong with the 3 of them. Hoho.
  8. Sour milk/yoghurt!
  9. Being told I'm pretty when I go shopping~ (I fondly remember this Etude sales assistant who had this dazzled look as though mesmerized by me when she was serving me.)
  10. Cheap peaches

So yup. I'm leaving Tianjin in about 24 hours, reaching Singapore in about 42 hours. I can't wait!

A purely communicative post

SDX, regarding your recent comment on MacDonalds: I would be more that willing to treat Evie and XFX to MacDonalds, if only I had Singapore dollars with me. Do they take credit card there? And regarding Duty-free, I was wondering if my Boss will slaughter me if I go dilly-dally in there instead of coming out quickly... and wouldn't I miss my luggage if I go shopping in there?
And regarding presents, obviously I bought all of you something. I'm not THAT forgetful nor heartless, you know. (Ho ho ho) Evie and XFX are getting something cute, unlike Rain who's getting something ... funny and authentically Chinese. So they are quite lucky. And your present is something mildly classy (if you disregard its origins). (How cryptic of me.)

60 hours

In about 60 + 2 hours, I'd be back in Singapore! Yay!
(But before that, I have a lot of work to clear. Dammit)

I haven't started packing; I'm in this state of Zen-like denial when it comes to attempting to squeeze everything into my luggage.

And oh yes, I just received a 2/5 month bonus yesterday - nothing much, 500RMB (~SGD100, and yes, I only get RMB1200 a month). I refuse to see it as a reward for hard work because I don't have a price on the things I produce, and if I do, they are horribly and obscenely unaffordable. So, it's not a reward for hard work. It's more like extra pocket money for us out of his goodwill.

The Shanghai Team

About the other team of interns in Shanghai. I didn't really want to talk about them, but this time round it's gone too far. See, one of the interns, Alvin, blogs. So I read his blog on a regular basis, reading about their tours and exploits.

This morning while I was checking my feeds, I found this article. Horrible, no? At first I thought it was some stance or a joke, and I imagined the kind of trouble one can get into making up such lies. Then I realized it is probably too much trouble that it just cannot be false.

And then I considered what I would have done if I were in that girl's (roommate, not defendant) position. Fortunately for me, I don't stay in a twin-sharing hostel so I really don't know what happens in places like that. It is now still unsure (to me) whether that girl actually did talk to the defendants about it.

Whatever it is, this is horrible. (And amongst that horror, why do I feel this sense of relief I'm not over at the Shanghai side, and that I have my own big room here? :P)

In other news, Auntie007: obviously I'm happy with extra shopping money! : D
And oh yes, I heard we have dumplings back home? Which means we can eat on Sunday? : D

Surprise

I refer to the previous comments by Auntie007:

Lovely will be receiving a "great surprise" when she comes home. She is one
lucky girl. Keep her in suspense until she is back.

What surprise is that?! Someone tell me quick! I'm not the sort who can appreciate surprises in this manner - whereby I'm being told that there will be a surprise but intentionally kept in suspense. Surprises don't work like that in my view. Now I'm dying to know what it is~~~
If it's THAT surprise that involves more shopping money for me, I already know about it. Uh-huh. If it's something else ... drop me a hint, please? A teeny-weeny one will do also. Now I can't wait to go back!

Fans

I went souvenir-buying today and I bought quite a number of fans, which are so pretty I can't bear to part with them. (And from this, now I know I should buy ugly and impractical souvenir items for people so I wouldn't feel the urge to horde them).

I bought 7 silk fans (one is not in the picture) for ... RMB200 (SGD~40). Unlike paper fans that probably last 5 hours (after which they crumble/get wet/break/tear), these silk fans can last me a long long time. The one that is not in the picture is a cheaper one that I intend to use on a daily basis; these are for special days when I want to feel special :D They are so pretty and dainty, aren't they? I really cannot bear to part with them. I want them all!

And besides, it's not nice to give people fans as gifts, right? Like 扇子 (shanzi) sounds like 散子 (sanzi) . So, I shall keep them all (except one of it, which I really want to give to a friend of mine.) And then I can coordinate my fan with my outfit. Fans are so useful during summer~

And so, I am still short of souvenirs. Forget it. Nobody's getting anything. I'm a regular conventional me-myself-and-I self-centred Singaporean youth. :D

Change in Flight Plans (again)

Dear all,
there has been a change in my flight plans again. I'm coming back on the 7th instead of the 8th, landing in Singapore at 11.45pm (still). I will send out a mass email soon.

So I'll be back on Saturday! Yay!
